Dr Teng was born in Malaysia. She studied Year 12 at the Scots PGC College in Warwick, and attended the University of Queensland medical school.
After graduating, she did internship at the Mackay Base Hospital, Queensland. Upon completion of her internship, she served at the Ipswich Hospital. This is followed by a two-year stint in Emergency Medicine at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane.
After several years of working in the public service, she moved into private medical practice, working as a GP in Kingaroy with Dr Fulcher and Dr Fulcher. She then worked for two years in Warwick, QLD, and finally in settled in Toowoomba.
She maintains a lively practice at the Mary St Family Practice, Toowoomba.
Dr Teng has a deep interest in the application of acupuncture for pain management.
Dr Teng practices what she preaches. Her personal interests include healthy cooking and healthy living through regular exercise.
